Dr. Balder ten Cate is a computer scientist and Associate Professor at the Institute for Logic, Language, and Computation (ILLC) at the University of Amsterdam (UvA). He obtained his PhD at the UvA. Balder researches how methods from logic (a branch of philosophy) can be applied in the context of computer science and AI. He specifically focuses on applications in data management and knowledge representation (i.e., finding ways to represent information in ways that computer systems can understand and work with).
