Dr. Erman Acar is assistant professor at the Institute for Logic, Language, and Computation (ILLC) at the University of Amsterdam. He obtained his PhD at the University of Mannheim, Germany. Erman’s research focuses on Neuro-Symbolic AI architectures: ways of combining modern neural networks (powerful technology but it is hard to explain its behavior) with traditional symbolic approaches (less powerful but easier to explain technology). Specifically, he utilizes such AI approaches to address problems in the domain of financial services.
